What is the Young Hercules Wiki?

Q: What is the Young Hercules Wiki?
A: The YHWiki will (eventually) be your one-stop-shop for anything you ever wanted to know (and more!) about the show "Young Hercules". Episode summaries, character bios, plot arc details, you name it, we'll try to have it! So many websites have become outdated or have broken links - this site strives to be up to date with current information for fans of yesteryear, today, and the future!

What's "Young Hercules"? What is the show about?

Q: What's "Young Hercules"? What is the show about?
A: A spin-off/prequel to Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, "Young Hercules" tells the story of Hercules and his friends when they were teenagers training at Cheiron's Academy. The TV show aired from 1998-1999.

Who are the characters?

Q: Who are the characters?
A: The main characters are Hercules (half-god son of Zeus) and his friends Iolaus (a former thief), Jason (the crown prince of Corinth), Lilith (female cadet and Amazon warrior), and later Theseus (a cadet). Click on each character's name for more information about them.

Movie? Flashbacks? Episodes? Which came first?

Q: Movie? Flashbacks? Episodes? Which came first?
A: First came the HtLJ flashbacks, which lead to the movie, which spawned the 50 episode TV series. However, Hercules, Iolaus, and Jason already know each other in most of the flashbacks, so timeline-wise the movie would come before the flashbacks.

Lilith was seen in "Herc and Seek", but she wasn't introduced until "Girl Trouble"! The episodes were aired out of order! What is the correct order?

Q: Lilith was seen in "Herc and Seek", but she wasn't introduced until "Girl Trouble"! The episodes were aired out of order! What is the correct order?
A: An official list was never released, but Ty and myself have created a Corrected Viewing Order - check it out!

Where's Xena?

Q: Where's Xena?
A: Young Xena never made an appearance in canon "Young Hercules".

Is that really Ryan Gosling?

Q: Is that really Ryan Gosling?
A: Yes! Before he was a well-know movie star, he was the hunky half-god we all know and love.

Where can I watch "Young Hercules"?

Q: Where can I watch "Young Hercules"?
A: The flashback HtLJ episodes and the YH movie are available on DVD, and can be purchased pretty much anywhere older DVDs are sold (like Ebay or Amazon). The TV show can currently be seen streaming on Hulu.com, and most of the season has been sold on DVD in Germany under the title Der Junge Hercules with original English audio track.

Is the TV show "Young Hercules" available on DVD?

Q: Is the TV show "Young Hercules" available on DVD?
A: "Young Hercules" has not yet been officially released out on DVD in the United States. I remain hopeful that someday it will be released, as I know many fans including myself who would gladly purchase it. Currently 35 of the 50 tv episodes have been released on DVD in Germany in the form of two volumes (See Der Junge Hercules - Volume 1 (German) and Der Junge Hercules - Volume 2 (German)). So far no news yet on the rest of the episodes being released.

Where can I buy/download the TV episodes?

Q: Where can I buy/download the TV episodes?
A: No doubt you are fully aware that downloading episodes is considered piracy and is illegal. If you search Google, Ebay, or other auction sites you can probably find someone selling the complete series on DVD, but be aware it will be bootlegged TV-rips of questionable quality burned onto DVDs with the original TV network's logo in the corner of the picture, since at this time "Young Hercules" has not been officially released on DVD. The only official release so far are the first two volumes that were released in Germany (Der Junge Hercules - Volume 1 (German) and Der Junge Hercules - Volume 2 (German)) available through Amazon or Ebay - they contain both German dub audio track as well as the original English audio track.

Who are you?

Q: Who are you?
A: My name is Bryn, and I've been a fan of the show ever since I was a kid watching it live on TV every week. I was obsessed with it back then, and I haven't lost my love for the show over the years, so I wanted to build this site as an homage to a show that was such a large influence on my life. Hopefully it'll rekindle the fire in the hearts of fans long since grown up, and perhaps draw new fans to this amazing show.

A: Mostly I do with the help of Ty and Alayia, but we're always looking for more help!

I keep seeing empty entries, red links, and "To Be Added". What's up with that?

Q: I keep seeing empty entries, red links, and "To Be Added". What's up with that?
A: There is a wealth of information that still needs to be uploaded. Since I am only one person and I still have to work a full-time job to pay the bills, I only have so much free time to devote to this project. I'm uploading information as quickly as I can type!

You made a tiny mistake/spelling error/grammatical error/etc.

Q: You made a tiny mistake/spelling error/grammatical error/etc.
A: Thanks for noticing! Many times I'm trying to type up entries so fast that I accidentally overlook a spelling error. Please email me, or better yet, join our team of editors so that you can correct the entry yourself!

You made a HUGE MISTAKE THAT HAS A WIDE-SPREAD IMPACT ON YOUR WIKI!!!! (For example, Hercules's nickname should be spelled "Herk" instead of "Herc", and Herk's best friend's name is actually spelled "Eolys". Or something.)

A: Ouch. A wide-spread impact, you say? Then I suggest that you email me before you start trying to make changes, because odds are I have a reason for doing what I did. All names have been heavily spell-checked and matched against as legitimate sources as I can find before being used widely in the wiki. But thanks for keeping me on my toes!

The possessive spelling of a proper name ending in 's' should only have an apostrophe. For example, instead of "Ares's sword" and "Iolaus's money pouch", you should have written "Ares' sword" and "Iolaus' money pouch".

Q: The possessive spelling of a proper name ending in 's' should only have an apostrophe. For example, instead of "Ares's sword" and "Iolaus's money pouch", you should have written "Ares' sword" and "Iolaus' money pouch".
A: I've seen it both ways. Seriously, I did a lot of research on this matter before I started working on the wiki, and found evidence supporting both arguments. Since there was no clear-cut "correct" way to write a possessive proper name ending in an 's', and since the single apostrophe is typically reserved for the possessive form of a plural word (ex. There are lots of boys and each boy has a test, so we're referring to the boys' tests), I have decided to stick with the apostrophe-'s' version of the possessive proper noun. But be aware and accepting that it can and has been seen both ways in the fandom. ^_^

A: I'm so glad you asked. Please check out the page: What Needs To Be Done for further information :)

Where is the register button?

Q: Where is the register button?
A: At this time registration has been locked - (The spambots were overwhelming the wiki and had created over 18500 spam accounts that had to be deleted one at a time). Please email me with your desired username to let me know you aren't a spambot, and I'll approve you for editing!

How do you edit entries? Do you need to know any special code?

Q: How do you edit entries? Do you need to know any special code?
A: Yes, but it's easy to learn. Knowledge of basic HTML is a plus, but you can learn all you need to know by going over to MediaWiki, or searching Google. Also, I recommend looking at the source code on other pages of things you want to do, and using that as a kind of template. I have also started a rules page to promote organization in the Wiki. Good luck!

I have information/pictures/whatever that should be included in the wiki, but I don't have time to join or learn how to edit. Can I just email you the stuff?

I saw that you own some props on the props page. Are you willing to sell them?

Q: I saw that you own some props on the props page. Are you willing to sell them?
A: No, not at this time (and probably never). I love YH too much to part with any of them. But thanks for asking!

I have some props/scripts/a lock of Ryan Gosling's hair/etc. that I'm trying to get rid of. Are you willing to buy them?
