A piece of the Kronos Stone

Appeared In: 1.42 - The Prize

Name for Zeus' father Kronos (or Cronus, depending on one's preferred spelling), this stone is an incredibly powerful artifact that was used by Zeus himself to defeat the Titans. Not only can it amplify a god's powers, but it can also give any half-god who wields it godlike powers themselves. Ares is shown to already possess two pieces of the stone, claiming it was no easy task to get them and, in fact, it took him 800 years just to acquire those two pieces.

No gods can actually *use* the pieces of the stone unless they are freely and willingly given to them by a mortal. Thus, when a third piece is discovered to be one of the prizes at a talent contest held at Kora's Inn, Ares decides to enter the contest so he can get his hands on it. To stop him from getting it, Hercules and Iolaus enter the contest as well. When it ends in a tie, Hercules grabs the stone when Ares isn't looking. It temporarily gives him the ability to shoot energy bolts. To keep Ares from taking it, Hercules throws the stone as far into the distance as he can, causing it to presumably drop to the bottom of a lake.
