Kronos

      King of the Titans, Kronos was the father of Demeter, Hades, Hera, Poseidon, and Zeus. When his mother, Gaia, predicted that one of his children would overthrow him someday, he devised a plan. As each of his children were born, he devoured them instantly. To spare her youngest son from such a fate, his wife, Rhea, wrapped a rock in swaddling clothes and presented it to Kronos as the newly-born Zeus. Without question, Kronos ate the rock.

      Gaia's prediction would ultimately come true when, several years later, Zeus returned to Mount Olympus to rescue his siblings and declare war against the Titans. At the end of the war, he and the other Titans were imprisoned forever in Tartarus.
