Amphitryon was the husband of Alcmene and father of Iphicles. He died before Hercules was born. Zeus pretended to be Amphitryon when he came to Alcmene and made love to her, conceiving Hercules.
In the (Movie Pilot) and (Novelization), Hercules remarks that he wishes he had memories of doing things with his father, like Jason. Iolaus remarks that it's not Amphitryon's fault that he died when Herc was young, at which point Hercules reveals that Amphitryon wasn't his father.
