Arges
|
By trade, Arges is a blacksmith. However, he is not very good at what he does. When a client threatens to take his business to Hephaestus next time, Arges goes on a rampage to find the god, who is staying at Cheiron's Academy at the time. He finds Hephaestus and, with his portable bellows/flamethrower, tries to destroy him. He is defeated, though, when Hercules uses a boulder to plug the flamethrower's nozzle, and is last seen shooting into space.
In mythology Arges (Greek: Ἄργης) was one of the Cyclopes in Greek mythology. He was elsewhere called Acmonides[1] or Pyraemon.[2] His name means "bright"[3] and represents the brightness from lightning. He is one of Gaia's children by Uranus. In fear, Uranus is said to have locked Arges, along with his brothers, in Tartarus. They were later freed to fashion lightning bolts for Zeus during his attempt to overthrow Cronus.
