His primary job seems to be instructing Jason in things like etiquette, handling petitions, and negotiating treaties. His proverbial feathers are constantly ruffled, though, as his student seems to be more interested in venturing into the city and goofing off than learning which fork to use. Ophistus is the chief adviser and mentor of sorts to Jason. His primary job seems to be instructing Jason in things like etiquette, handling petitions, and negotiating treaties. His proverbial feathers are constantly ruffled, though, as his student seems to be more interested in venturing into the city and goofing off than learning which fork to use. To the cadets, he seems stuffy and overbearing, and he certainly is that. His intentions are good, though, and all he wants to do is make sure Jason is a good king.
