- Located on the coast of Attica, Rhamnous was located just northwest of the municipality of Marathon. During the Peloponnesian War, grain was imported into its acropolis for the Athenians. However, it was most known for the sanctuary devoted to Nemesis. This sanctuary was said to be the most important one devoted to the avenging goddess in all of ancient Greece.
