- Thrace is a historical and geographical area located in southern Europe. It is bordered on the north by the Balkan Mountains, the Rhodope Mountains and Aegean Sea on the south, and the Black and Marmara Seas on the east. The area consists of Bulgaria, northern Greece, and the European part of Turkey. According to mythology, it was founded by Thrax, one of the sons of Ares.
